A payload accommodation study for the first Spacelab flight is presented. Mandatory European facilities are considered, i. e., space sled, metric camera, and material sciences console, as well as proposed facilities such as CAPS and the microwave experiment. The NASA payload is also accounted for. Aspects studied are option definition, physical arrangements, preliminary payload investigation, weight budget, center of gravity location, first electrical power distribution and interfaces, compatibility between sled and other experiments, and data management investigation.
