The experimental program was directed toward understanding the Shuttle Glow phenomenon, shuttle/spacecraft contamination and associated problems. The Arizona Imager/Spectrograph experiment (AIS) was flown as part of the IBSS/SPAS 2 Mission. Several IBSS experiments were supported by the AIS. Much important data was gathered and is being analyzed at this time. The results from the successful mission will be used as the basis for further work on these important subjects. A second experiment using the same approach is being prepared as an attached shuttle experiment. The Shuttle Glow Experiment (GLO) has been manifested on STS-53 as the next step in our study of the shuttle/spacecraft interaction with the earth's atmosphere.
