The environmental statement is based on a study designed to eliminate the existing grade crossing at the intersection of U.S. Route 220, U.S. Route 40 and the B and O-C and O Railroad in Cumberland, Maryland. The environmental implications regarding the project serve to enhance the many diverse elements of the surrounding community. Noise and Air Pollution will be reduced by the ability to increase traffic mobility in the vicinity of the present juncture. The following is a comprehensive evaluation of the project area: Land usage, Housing types and condition, Economic condition of the neighborhood, Minority groups.
