The study examined specific major mission categories of General Support and Logistics and subsequently enumerated: Functions performed; for whom; sources expended; the relationship between functions to force levels, operations and/or procurement. Interviews were conducted with key budget personnel in the Naval Air Systems Command, Naval Ship Systems Command, Naval Facilities Command, Naval Ordnance Systems Command, Naval Electronics Systems Command, Office of Navy Comptroller, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations and the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Atlantic. Based on these interviews, data was collected, examined and formatted. Additionally, correlation analyses were performed to determine the extent to which the cost categories were examined. (Author)
