The project extends from near U.S. Highway 183 north of the City of Austin in Travis County, southerly 2.6 miles to just north of Airport Boulevard. This section of Interstate Highway 35 is the northern portion of the total 5.1 miles planned for improvements along the existing route of Interstate Highway 35 approximately one mile east of the City's Central Business District. This controlled-access facility is planned for six to eight lanes with continuous frontage roads. Included as part of the proposed Interstate Highway 35 improvements are Spur 69 from near the Southern Pacific Railroad crossing on Koenig Lane, easterly 0.6 mile to Interstate Highway 35, and U.S. Highway 290 from Interstate Highway 35, easterly 0.7 mile to F. M. Highway 3015 (Cameron Road). These will each be six-lane controlled-access facilities with continuous frontage roads. Environmental impacts are discussed.
