The author relates the application of infrared technology in guided missiles' control guidance system, its use as aiming devices, in photographing the earth from artificial earth satellites, in detecting remote rockets, etc. Due to its many particular and superior characteristics, as well as certain advantages over radar, it is anticipated more extensive applications in aviation can be foreseen in the near future.
