The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has requested the transfer to MTA of certain Federally-owned land, already improved by an airport runway and ancillary taxiways, located at Farmingdale, Long Island, New York. The land abuts on Republic Airport, now owned by MTA, and has been used for many years as an integral part thereof, the Federally-owned runway being operated as an extension of the principal runway on the airport proper. The Federally-owned runway segment is necessary for the accommodation of a growing number of general aviation aircraft. The proposed land acquisition should have no impact on the human or natural environment.
