In the Norwegian Travel Survey 2005 about 17 500 people from 13 years upward have been interviewed. Three out of ten daily trips are related to leisure activities, and they last about half an hour per day. Leisure trips are most times consumed on weekends. The number of leisure trips is highest among young people. Two out of five have access to a holiday home or cabin. The cabin owners are middle- aged with children, but the children do not use the cabin as much as their parents do. Every third person has access to a leisure boat. Most of them have a boat with a motor. The larger boats are used more than the smaller ones
