The propulsion area Advanced Development Program (ADP) activities of the National Launch System (NLS) are presented and an overview of recent accomplishments are discussed. The ADP is organized into five areas: propulsion, structures/materials/manufacturing, avionics/software, aerothermodynamics/recovery, and operations/subsystems. Information is given for the liquid propulsion tasks supporting the development of the Space Transportation Main Engine (STME), the liquid propulsion test facilities that support STME subsystem and component testing, and solid propulsion tasks that maintain the option to utilize strap-on solid boosters for the smaller vehicles in the NLS family.
