This month the author would like to share what it means for ITE to be Recognized, the fourth cornerstone key to ITE's success along with being Relevant, Value-Added, and Connected. To be recognized, ITE needs to be more visible on major issues affecting the transportation industry. One way to increase their visibility is by voicing their position with the US Congress as they craft legislation, with the US Department of Transportation as they issue policies and regulations, and with other organizations globally. They also need to ensure they are engaged on key emerging issues such as Smart Cities, Vision Zero, and connected and automated vehicles. ITE needs to continually look for opportunities to influence the future of transportation in the US and around the world.
