ITE members benefit from the work conducted behind the scenes by the ITE Technical Programs Division at ITE Headquarters in Washington, DC, USA, often without knowing it. This monthly column seeks to better inform our members of the technical products, services, and partnerships that are developed, facilitated, and supported by ITE Technical Programs Division staff. This month's column focuses on two safety projects -- one an ITE volunteer-led effort and one an external contract -- for which ITE Technical Programs Division staff have been supplying support and management. The ITE Protected Bikeways Practitioners Guide is being released this month in conjunction with the Joint ITE/ CITE 2017 Annual Meeting and Exhibit in Toronto, ON, Canada. Currently underway for 2017 release, "Implementing Context Sensitive Design for Multimodal Thoroughfares: An ITE Informational Report," is being developed through an external contract with the Federal Highway Administration's Office of Human Environment supported by ITE Technical Programs Division staff.
