The paper gives a comparison of the two brake designs as determined by dynamometer tests. Input, output, weights, fade, drum distortion, and durability are considered and compared. The superiority of the Stopmaster Design is in evidence. The results have been largely confirmed with service experience, showing the reason for the continued pursuance of the Stopmaster Wedge brake design. All other factors remaining equal, this design will continue to gain acceptance and will largely replace the cam brake.
