Pollution and emission controls have always been a highly debatable topic that brought higher public awareness and more scrutiny towards engine manufacturers in recent years. The persistence effects on world weather due to global warming and adverse health effects have created an urgent need for engineers to improve understanding of combustion processes and pollutant formations as by products of the mentioned processes. Therefore, improving combustion process is one of the most promising method in reducing emission, improving fuel economy while simultaneously maintaining performance and drivability. The core of combustion processes ultimately attributed from what goes into the combustion chamber. As such, intake ports are influencing intensity and air motions flowing into the combustion chamber. Previous researches have shown and identified that charge motions from the intake port into the combustion chamber play an important role in producing a good air fuel mixture which will lead to a highly effective and efficient combustion. This paper explores the effect of optimizing charge motions towards achieving better emissions.
