Thermoplastic Encapsulation is the process of injecting a molten plastic around a piece of glass located in the mold, yielding a complete assembly right from the injection press. Filling the entire perimeter without exerting enough pressure to break the glass determines the feasible operating window. Part design, processing expertise, adhesive technology and material development have expanded the possible applications of this process. Recent work facilitating the production of moving glass components and integrated seals is presented.
