As mining costs continue to rise, it is essential that industrial equipment and mining companies find new ways to reduce fuel costs and equipment maintenance expenses. Detroit Diesel Allison is addressing these vital areas by providing more fuel efficient and more durable engines that provide increased horsepower, longer life and lower fuel consumption. This paper will review significant product improvements in the areas of increased durability, reliability and fuel economy in recent years; product improvements that are currently being developed for introduction in the next 1-2 years; and outline DDA's long range Forward Plan Program that will assure continued product advancement throughout the remainder of this decade.
