This paper describes a successful application of the principle of ebullition cooling to automotive engines, through the development and use of a dual-circuit system. The history and advantages of ebullition cooling are reviewed. The principles of the dual-circuit system are described, operating characteristics are discussed, and test results are reported. The paper concludes that dual-circuit ebullition cooling is a significant contribution to the field of automotive engine cooling.
