Closed-circuit television systems are performing reliable, low-cost inspection on more and more of today's production lines. These systems range from those that simply display parts for visual observation by an operator, to those that employ a microprocessor-based controller that can be programmed to make accept/reject decisions automatically. This paper describes how a number of closed-circuit television systems are being used today to inspect products like integrated circuit chips, electrical components, medical devices, automotive parts, and hot-rolled steel strip.
