Two sets of volunteer tests were used to analyze neuromuscular control of the human neck.Transient responses imitating a 6 km/h rear impact were analyzed using inverse dynamics to estimate neuromuscular feedback parameters. Using linear models a good fit of the data was obtained. The position feedback gain at T1 is about twice the value at OC and surprisingly position feedback gains estimated for the instructions relax and resist do not differ strongly.New experiments were performed applying continuous random appearing seat displacements. Analysis in the frequency domain showed a good coherence from 1-4 Hz indicating that these data are suitable for the estimation of neuromuscular parameters.
