Today, general aviation is providing a variety of aircraft from which the executive may choose the one best suited to his needs. If the mission requires operation above 10,000 ft pressure altitude, the cabin should be pressurized.System concepts which are currently applicable to executive twin engine aircraft are reviewed. Aero Commander, Inc. utilizes a hydraulically driven system with a “bootstrap” air cycle refrigeration unit on the pressurized Model 680 F. Engine bleed air is used with a “simple cycle” air turbine refrigeration unit on the Jet Commander. Details of these systems are reviewed.
