The load ratings of cylindrical roller bearings are dependent upon numerous factors not adequately defined in the AFBMA formula. Recent rolling contact fatigue testing has indicated that inner and outer ring thickness, ring and roller material analysis, raw material processing, roller groupings, and component processing and heat treatment are several items not adequately considered, which appreciably affect bearing life, and must be included in developing bearing load ratings. Due to the proprietary nature of much of the data it is not possible to develop a universal load rating formula which can be applied by the bearing user in comparing competitive bearings. The load ratings of cylindrical roller bearings are dependent upon numerous factors not adequately defined in the AFBMA formula.
