Kan-Ban is a form of Just-In-Time production which is used at Motorola. Through this program Motorola is lowering inventories, and reducing associated costs.In this paper Motorola's Kan-Ban approach is reviewed. An integral part of the program includes utilization of Kan-Ban suppliers, so that these are truly inventory-saving procedures, as opposed to inventory-cost-transfer procedures.
