This SAE Recommended Practice provides procedures and methods for testing service, spring applied parking, and combination brake actuators with respect to durability, function, and environmental performance. A minimum of six test units designated A, B, C, D, E, and F are to be used to perform all tests per 1.1 and 1.2. This revision adds a test unit “F” for corrosion testing which allows future reference to SAE J2721. Made optional the parking volume reporting. Added high pressure service side cycles as prep for current cycle testing. Added requirements to read and record SAE J2899 rated stroke marking after corrosion test. Reorganized test order such that proof pressure is done at the end of test. Reorganized test order such that volume testing is done after low temperature testing. Made optional the minimum pressure response. Removed Disc Brake sections as it has been moved to SAE J2902. Made optional the low temperature parking force and hold-off. Made artic leak an alternative test procedure. Added 130 psig pressure test condition to Force output – Service Chamber.
