The utilization of numerical controlled machine tools in operation at Miehle Div. of Miehle-Goss-Dexter is discussed. These machines are primarily used to produce accurate and precision located holes in metal of all varieties. Numerical controlled machines offer conventional savings in labor costs, tools and jigs, floor space, and reduced inventory. In addition, a major advantage is that numerical control allows post-production refinements.Numerical control is an asset to the Miehle Co. as existing facilities can produce products at a continuous growth rate, while utilizing less machine tools than 10 years ago.
