This paper describes a recent change in the maintenance programs employed by the airlines to assure the integrity of their airframes, powerplants, and components. Nodestructive testing plays a very vital role in these maintenance programs by permitting critical areas to be monitored with relatively minor open-up to permit access to perform the inspections.
