This paper considers a vehicle without wheels - the hovercraft. Discussed are theory of operation, terms used in describing basic components, methods of operation and construction, and problems encountered in the design of hovercraft. Described are many hovercraft already in operation, future designs, and the author’s firsthand experience with the design, construction, and piloting of an actual man-carrying hovercraft.
