The future in which the auto makers will be forced to implement the after use recycling in cars is already tangible. The total numbers of parts to be recycled must be minimised and also the number of materials presented in each recycling item. The tendency is to have one material or same family materials on each part. This paper deals with the main families of materials present in each of the car multicomponent parts, stressing large parts such as instrument panels, bumpers, door panels, headliners and other interior and exterior components.Examples of the current materials in use and some trends are discussed together with the weaknesses and strengths of the recycling systems implemented to date.
