Reviews the history of the Jaguar Cars company from 1931 to 1986 with particular emphasis on the innovations in automotive engineering which have led to its successes. The decline of the company during the 1970s is outlined and the development work on the XJ40 undertaken in the 1980s, to ensure the survival of the company, is described.
