As a major energy consumer and emitter, researching energy-saving technologies for ships is an urgent need to build an environmentally friendly society. This article takes the centrical refrigerant water system of the certain ocean going container ship as the focus of the study, and performs simulated computations along with an analysis of energy conservation for the ship's variable frequency centrical refrigerant water system in MATLAB/Simulink environment. When the seawater pump adopts frequency conversion control, the effect of energy conservation is significant, and as the speed ratio decreases, the energy-saving effect becomes greater and greater. When the speed ratio reaches the minimum value of 0.6, the energy-saving effect reaches its maximum.
