At present, the safety management training of dangerous goods in ports mainly adopts the form of operation manual, safety theory explanation, watching video training and so on. Dangerous goods are flammable, explosive, toxic and harmful, corrosive, which are difficult to simulate in daily drills fully. To improve the training efficiency of dangerous goods operations in ports, this paper analyzes the application of virtual reality technology (VR) in the training of dangerous goods operations in ports. Based on Unity3D and Maya software, we developed a port operation of dangerous goods training platform, including four modules of dangerous goods leakage, fire, explosion and poisoning accident disposal. With the help of VR technology, trainees can carry out simulation training in a safe environment. By providing an immersive experience, it further stimulates trainees’ interest in participating in training and improves the training effect.
