Dual motor drive system is a new electric drive technology architecture which can greatly improve the performance of pure electric vehicles, but in order to achieve a variety of drive modes, the system structure is often too complicated, and the corresponding control difficulty is greatly increased. To address the issue of excessive longitudinal impact and deceleration caused by abrupt changes in output torque during drive mode switching in the dual-motor coupled drive system of pure electric vehicles, this paper analyzes the working states and motion relationships of components during the switching process of each drive mode, based on the newly designed dual-motor coupled drive system structure. In order to achieve less impact in the process of shifting and control the clutch parts, the control strategy of torque transmission and speed synchronization of dual motors is proposed. A simulation model of the dual-motor coupled drive system was built on the Matlab/Simulink platform, verifying the feasibility of the proposed mode-switching control strategy for the dual-motor coupled drive system. The research results show that after implementing the mode switching control of the dual-motor coupled drive system, the vehicle impact is controlled to be less than 3m/s^3. And no speed reduction in the middle.
