In addition to the computing system design, Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technologies should also get involved for the communication of edge system. V2X provides redundancy for autonomous driving workloads; it can also alleviate stress on edge computing system. We believe this is a promising approach, but the key is to identify a sweet spot between the trade-offs of fully relying on the edge computing system vs. fully relying on the V2X infrastructure. Hence, exploring how V2X enables autonomous vehicles to cooperate with each other and with the infrastructure remains an open research topic. In this chapter, we first discuss then innovations on the V2X infrastructure and cooperative autonomous driving. Then we present the performance comparison of V2X communications based on a vehicle edge computing prototype.
