Historically, electric freight vehicles faced skepticism due to perceived impracticality and high costs for long-distance journeys. However, recent research suggests a shifting paradigm. Owing to advancements in electric vehicle technology and mass production, the future may reveal a different narrative. Electric vehicles, once considered less suitable for extended transport, are now emerging as a promising solution to mitigate transportation-induced air pollution. Numerous studies, conducted globally, yield varying insights into the impact of electric freight vehicles on logistics, spanning technological, managerial, and operational dimensions, as well as key parameters influencing their adoption. This article provides an extensive literature review to reveal the factors fostering the widespread adoption of electric freight vehicles. Our objective is to raise awareness of their unemployed potential within the long-haul transportation sector, highlighting their crucial role in emissions reduction and the advancement of sustainable transportation solutions.
