In this paper the noise generating mechanism for the interior area of passenger coaches is studied. It is primarily aimed at understanding the noise source mechanism for the narrow band noise problem in the range of 70 Hz~90 Hz. Though these phenomena differ with respect to the track construction inside the tunnel and vehicles, it could be concluded that this problem appears during the whole high speed lines basically. First the problem is investigated in regard to different driving conditions, the aerodynamic noise mechanism and the acoustical distribution near the inter space between passenger coaches are investigated numerically as well as experimentally. These results are analysed also in respect to the structure borne noise tests.
