Abstract This chapter describes the main principles and models of active system control (ASC). The main topics include: Analyse features of existing control schemes systems to ensure that the good are retained and the bad eliminated Introduce the principle of ASC (PASC) Set out the theoretical PASCs, including a means of implementation Investigate the possibility and specific features of the PASC implementation at the various levels of PASC: operational life of the aircraft, each individual flight and the PASC itself, i.e., its application in-the-large, medium and small Analyse the limits of the PASC implementation in terms of reliability modelling Propose a practical process model for on-board active control monitoring Define the theoretical background for specifications of the PASC implementations The aspects regarding the practical application and algorithmically defined implementation of PASC are described in later chapters.
