Damage tolerance is the aircraft design idea stipulated in the airworthiness regulations, and its concept is to ensure structural safety by inspection. The aircraft engine room rods are the key primary structure elements for transmitting engine load, which must be verified by damage tolerance analysis and test. The whole process of fatigue and damage tolerance for the engine room rods is analyzed in this paper. The critical crack size and inspection interval are also given out. Fatigue and crack propagation tests are designed to verify the accuracy of the analysis results and the structural compliance with the airworthiness regulations. The research ideas in this paper can provide reference for the verification of damage tolerance for similar aircraft structures.
