The introduction of a risk-based approach to the work of the engineering enterprises helps to ensure the competitiveness of products and increase the safety of vehicles. This will also reduce production injuries and solve the problem of worker health maintaining. Difficulties arise with accurate measurements of large-sized nodes (fuselages of aircraft, locomotives, 2-storey cars, machines) at the enterprises of transport engineering. Such measurements are carried out during periodic inspections of large – sized node sizes, when the prefabricated panels of the body are adjusted by aligning various elements of the body, measuring the geometry of devices during assembly and welding, and slipway control. To optimize such operations at transport engineering enterprises, laser trackers are introduced which are coordinate measuring devices. Laser trackers are easy to operate, and their laser coordinate measuring systems allow you to determine the geometric dimensions of objects accurately. In particular, in aircraft industry, when installing a slipway in the assembly of aircraft, set in space the basic surfaces of the basic elements – coordinate-fixing holes with a given accuracy, significantly reducing operation time. With the help of a tracker, it is possible to send a laser beam to an artificially retroreflective reflector, which is brought into contact with an object studied by an operator. Returning reflectors differ, but the studies have shown, that the reflector, mounted in the sphere is the most effective one. In order to reduce time to measure the position of a certain hole, a device was introduced, which allows to position the spherical reflector of a laser tracker with a given accuracy relative to the center of the slipway measured hole. The proposed system on the tracker basis, will significantly to avoid errors and defects, increase the assembly accuracy and reduce the binding time of the basic elements during the assembly of cars and locomotives.
