In the very near future, cars will drive themselves—and us. Autonomous vehicle (AV) technologies are not just putting robots in the driver’s seat but are doing away with that seat altogether. In this new world, the motor vehicles are the robots, navigating highways and streetscapes efficiently and safely with little or no human assistance and, after dropping off their passengers, even parking themselves.
