Modern and increasingly autonomous vehicles retain a wide range of information in the form of data. Storage can take place in various electronic control units, in the vehicle’s infotainment system (e.g., on SD card), or in the Event Data Recorders (EDR), in volatile or non-volatile memories with different storage times. This paper presents how it is performed a modern vehicle SD card data download using special target hardware and forensic expert software. The logical storage methods of data collected, received, processed, and stored by modern transport vehicles may differ between each OEM, type. In this study, the main steps of a vehicle-related forensics examination are described, and conclusions are drawn based on the test results, based on data stored on the micro-SD card in the vehicle’s infotainment system.
