Drawn by the novel mode of operation, the swarm munition is a kind of combat equipment with low-cost and high combat power, and it plays an important role in the battlefield environment of high dynamic and intensive confrontation in modem warfare. Firstly, in view of the cooperative warfare of swarm munitions, the recent status of the same kind of equipment abroad is summarized from two aspects: swarm munitions based on unmanned aerial vehicles and swarm munitions based on the munitions in service. Secondly, the key technologies of swarm munitions are analyzed from the following five aspects: launching, ad-hoc network, detection, decision-making and execution. Finally, the challenges faced by the swarm munitions are summarized, and the future development trend in this field is forecasted.
