To effectively carry out maritime search and rescue missions and ensure the safety of lives and property at sea, it is essential to establish a highly efficient and reliable maritime communication and search-and-rescue network. The Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS), developed and implemented by the IMO, is created for distress, safety and general radio communications. Built on the foundation of modern electronics, computer, and communication technologies, GMDSS relies on precise position information and plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe transport and operation of maritime activities worldwide.
