In this paper, three routing protocols associated with VANET namely DSR, AODV and OLSR are analyzed under different traffic scenario using network simulator NS2 and NetSim along with a vehicular traffic movement tracing simulator SUMO. VANET simulation is implemented in a map-view model for Bhubaneswar city with random and low to high mobility model. The paper further presents the performance of these routing protocols and compares different channel models and network size, based on specified performance metrics. Based on the comparative studies, the analysis provides the recommendation for selection of appropriate routing protocols, suitable wireless channel model and control of vehicular mobility in dense network environment for improved quality of service.
