Wave glider is an innovation marine environment surveillance platform. It can transfer the wave motion to the propulsion of vehicle directly and be widely used on the fields of oceanography research, marine resource exploration and so on. Wave glider is a coupling multibody system interacting with fluid environment. In order to improve the propulsion performance of wave glider, it is essential to study the coupling effect between fluid and propulsion mechanism. In this paper the interaction dynamics of wave glider is studied considering hydrodynamics and motion of propulsion foil. The analysis scheme of fluid-mechanism coupling analysis is carried out firstly. Then hydrodynamics analysis is carried out based on Fluent software. And the motion equations of foil are deduced and the add-on function code is developed with UDF(User defined function) of Fluent software. Through the frame of fluid and mechanism coupling, coupling dynamic simulation is implemented and motion of vehicle and fins are obtained. The relationship between the stiffness of fin and the propulsion performance is analyzed.
