European environmental and transport policies commit, among others, to increasing the number of zero-emission vehicles in cities and agglomerations. Strategic documents at the national level also set out similar commitments. One of the available options is the increasing use of electric buses. This requires a transition to a fleet consisting at least in part of electric buses. Conducting a conversion process to restructure a public transport bus fleet without proper planning is often a difficult task. The process of such conversion is usually long and should be well planned in technical, economic and organizational dimensions. This paper presents selected management dilemmas of the planning process and a set of tools to help in planning the conversion process of a city bus fleet. It also discusses the influence of geo-information input data on the proper functioning of IT applications.
