Abstract The transportation process is described by 5 parameters: transport operations and the relations between them, the route, the time of the transportation process and the kind of product that is transported. The direct interviews conducted among carriers indicate that if entered into the TMS (Transport Management System), the route parameters applicable for carriers would speed up cost calculation process and improve accuracy of business decisions. One of those parameters is the level of risk connected with potential disruptions of the transportation process. Therefore, this article aims to present a new approach to risk analysis conducted to facilitate decision process for the management of a transport enterprise. The research presented in this article is part of “Identifying data supporting risk assessment in road transport system in the aspect of safety and meeting logistic standards” program financed as part of MINIATURA 1 program.
