Abstract Freight transportation is a vital component of the economy. It supports production, trade, and consumption activities by ensuring the efficient movement and timely availability of raw materials and finished goods. In consequence, freight transportation represents a significant part of the cost of a product, as well as of the national expenditures of any country (Crainic and Laporte, 1997).
