In recent years, there has been great deal of interest in exploration of alternative fuels such as solar PV, other than jet fuel for aircraft propulsion in order to reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In this paper, a solar PV application in aerospace technologies has been described. The method is based on integration of photovoltaic (PV) system into the aircraft, thereby utilizing it to charge the battery. The high-altitude solar powered aircrafts are attempt to mitigate climate change. The paper focuses on the technological status of various solar power aircrafts which include photovoltaic systems, battery, and power management systems.
