The abstract should summarize the contents of the paper in short terms, i.e. 150–250 words. The vast number of Tulungagung residents who work and study in Surabaya makes commuting between Tulungagung and Surabaya one of the busiest travels sectors every day (customer assessment). The two most prevalent means of public transit are buses and railroads. In this study, we look at the modes of transportation that passengers choose, as well as the elements and features that influence the choice of public transportation modes between ATB Buses and Dhoho Trains on the Tulungagung - Surabaya route. The survey took the form of delivering assessment forms to respondents who had ridden the ATB Bus and Dhoho Train. The survey responses were subsequent analyzed using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach. According to the data analysis, the ATB Bus was the most popular means of transportation, accounting for 58.7%, followed by the Dhoho Train (41%). The most important variables are the headway factor (22.4%), convenience (19.2%), safety (18.7%), journey time (18.2%), comfort (15.9%), and cost (5.5%). The most influential the parameters are male sex (56%), age 20–29 years (52%), and a high school education (44%). Students contribute to 21% of their load. For the highest income, that is, income surpassing Rp. 3,000,000, it can exceed 42%.
