The past decades have witnessed 26 tethered satellite missions due to its great potential in space exploration, microgravity, and deep space observation. A typical tethered satellite mission generally involves tether deployment, state keeping, and tether retrieval. The chapter introduced some new FO tension control laws for the fast and stable deployment & retrieve problem of space tethered system. The FO control law has the memory of previous states and thus controls the tether deployment/retrieval more smoothly while maintaining the speed.
