The use of vehicles in our daily lives is growing dramatically, and as a result, more vehicles are breaking traffic laws, resulting in numerous accidents and necessitating traffic police to monitor them 24/7 in real time. Riding without a helmet, triple riding, signal jumping, and other traffic rules are broken by motorcycles, and these offences can be detected by virtual traffic cops. This study attempts to replace human traffic cops with virtual traffic cops, in which a camera monitors the situation and checks for any violations. The system proposed uses the You Only Look Once (YOLOv5) algorithm to detect motorcycles and helmets, and a convolution neural network (CNN) for classification. Vehicle licence plate detection is critical for any vehicle to be recognised, and the technology optical character recognition (OCR) is used to detect licence plate numbers. In addition, the rider who breaks the traffic rules receives an immediate notification. A remedy for traffic violations is provided in this proposed system. An automated system using a camera and a number plate recognition application is included in the system. In the event of a rule infringement, a number plate recognition application utilising a machine learning algorithm will recognise the number plate and send an SMS to the offender.
