Abstract There are several categories defined by SAE automation levels on the way to autonomous driving [1]. Nowadays, automated functions associated with the 2nd and 3rd level exist in cars, e.g. the lane keeping assist and the traffic jam pilot system. This paper looks forward and focusses on the degree of high automation, respectively the 4th level.
